MEI- MEETING OF INDEPENDENT LABELS

WHAT IS IT?
MEI- Meeting of Independent labels - was born on November 27, 1997 and organized by Materiali Musicali. It is a 3-day-convention dedicated to the Italian independent music world which today gathers all the most important operators of the sector, a lot of live musicians and many independent musical, publishing and film producters.

WHERE IS IT?
MEI- Meeting of Independent labels takes place every year at the Exhibition Centre in Faenza (RA), via Risorgimento, 3. In addition to the Fair (with exhibition areas, live tents, meetings and theme areas), MEI organizes other projects in the city centre over an area of 15.000 square meters - in places like the Masini Theatre, the Exposition Palace, the old town and all the areas that take part in the  MEI’s “Notte Light” between Saturday and Sunday.

WHEN IS IT?
The annual meeting is usually at the end of November. The 14th edition is going to take place on the 26th- 27th- 28th of November 2010.

More than 30.000 people, 400 artists and live bands, 400 exhibitors, 350 video clips, 200 media, 150 meetings and 100 operators from abroad.

Awards
Within the MEI there are some of the most important awards of the independent sector.
In particular we would like to point out the PIMI- Italian Award for Independent Music- and the PIVI- Italian Award for Independent Video clip-.

Partnership
Thanks to important national television and radio circuits, MEI can broadcast its own contents, for example the Indie Music Like – the independent weekly chart of the new media broadcasted in preview on Isoradio.

Presentation AudioCoop

Audiocoop is the third association of independent Italian records and represents 5% of the Italian discography market. It was established in March 2000 under MEI and approximately 150 associates indies with their locations throughout Italy. It has 15 regional branches and maintains the network MeiFest that combines more than 60 music festivals. The aim of Audiocoop is to make known the reality of Independent Labels in Italy and to collaborate with institutions and organizations involved in arts and music for their value from a cultural, artistic, aggregative, economic, creative and social point of view. Moreover our purpose is that to lay the foundations of a capillary formation and to spread the world of "indies."

Furthermore AudioCoop:

• launched the idea of a federation of independent labels, but also continued to work specifically with other labels in the Italian musical world.
• Audiocoop managed to get its members to share the recognition of the rights of the private copying and the importance of the diffusion of radio and television media.
• It collaborated on Masters of Communication and Entertainment in several universities.
• Every month Audiocoop announces an India Music chart from more than 100 new media (radio and TV web sites, blogs, local radio and TV), published every month by Rockstar.it.
• Audiocoop participates in the major international events such as: EuroSonic (Netherlands); Midem in Cannes; Popkomm (Berlin); WOMEX (Copenhagen) and many other minor events.
• Audiocoop is a member of  the international associations WIN and Merlin.
